Longtime desktop PC users will all tend to agree that by the time you need to replace your desktop's CPU or desktop rig, you've already replaced the clunky monitor with a larger, thinner and much better looking LCD. However, if you're looking for more than just your average desktop PC rig, then the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-140F is the desktop PC for you.
Initially, the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-140F doesn't really look like much as it lies in an unassuming black HP casing which looks pretty much standard fare. Granted, the casing, keyboard and mouse combo look very professional and corporate with their all black with silver trim look.
However, what marks the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-140F apart from your average desktop PC is its innards as it contains a powerful Intel Core i5 650 processor which allows you to do practically anything. With 8GB of DDR3 memory the desktop is very stable and very high performance allowing it to handle everything from office applications and web surfing to programming compilers and 3D rendering. While the Nvidia GeForce GT230 discrete graphics card does allow for some gaming and smooth HD video it is entry-level performance at best unlike the 1TB hard disk drive the desktop comes rigged with.
While the great components of the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-140F are awesome it's the desktops wireless-n connectivity which makes it so easy to use. Powered by a Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system, the desktop runs quite well and is fairly responsive. A LightScribe enabled DVD burner allows you to burn labels directly onto LightScribe disc media while it's other functions allows you to archive and view DVD9 movies along with CDs.
All in all, the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-140F is an excellent performance-level desktop computer rig. With the ability to handle almost practically anything you throw at it the system is the perfect addition to your existing LCD monitor or HDTV. If you're getting the LCD monitor separately then the system is a great high-performance rig to start out with. However, while the system can handle mostly everything, truly serious gamers will have to consider upgrading the graphic card to something with a little bit more graphical power before the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-140F is the perfect performance desktop PC.
